One other note (wow, i suck), today is Leap Day or whatever, and I have three posts to commemorate it. Cool!
I forgot, I did do one interesting thing. I went to Mel's for supper on Saturday with Adrienne and Matt, and then we went back to Adrienne's rez room and made her go over her bandwidth limit. I also got to see approximately 10 different colours of Sharpies.
I had a very productive weekend, although completely uninteresting. I essentially worked on OS for 15 hours between Saturday and Sunday and I studied Cryptography all day Friday. The result is that the coding for our 2nd OS assignment is almost done and I may pass the crypto midterm on Wednesday. I even have time to finish my CS360 assignment in time to not have to use my late. Not procrastinating is really the way to go.
Jen wants me to add a comment feature to my website so that people can make comments about my posts. I don't think anyone would be interested enough to have it, but I will probably implement it at some point if I get the chance. I'm not capable of just using any of the very good free versions available like the one she uses on her site, I feel I have to do it myself. Which means it will probably not happen, or if it does it won't be until my work term.
Speaking of my work term, the dress code for my placement is Business casual...ooooooh it makes me feel special. Never had to care about dress before.
I'm going to Toronto on Saturday to check out a place to live, hope it works out, especially since it sounds like it might have a dishwasher.
Busy, so busy. Posting to note that my Internet hit a new record today, see:
Yeah, loser. Whatever. OS is my one and only. At least if it were things would be a lot easier.
Yeah, so we managed to finish the first OS assignment on time; we think the code is at least alright, the design/testing documents may be another story. But who really cares about them anyway? The fun part about all this is that the second assignment was posted within hours of the due date of the first. And it looks like a lot more work than the first too. Isn't that special...right during midterms.
Co-op is going really well, as of today I have 8 interviews, which is a lot and takes up a lot of time. I really hope I get the job with Oculus in Toronto, it sounds like it would be really cool and learningful, plus the salary is amazing, not that I care about such things, no never, not me.
I'm in Waterloo this weekend to try and get ahead on a whole bunch of stuff so that I can focus on the next OS assignment for a while, but I don't know how far I will get, I have a cryptography assignment and a CS360 assignment and two midterms to study for. Next weekend is Valentine's day so I will be at home and I doubt I will get much work done.
Tonight Kim might come visit which would be sweet, otherwise I might go to the Bomber. If neither of these things happen I think I will try to watch the movie "The Godfather," since I really want to see it.
I added some new random quotes...see if you can find them all! (total of 25)
It's an update for the sake of updating.
Life is more interesting when I'm at school which means I have no time to write anything here. This is unfortunate.
Oh well, back to OS.
Here is a picture of my robot so far, I hope to add legs and stuff and maybe even make a small animation of it one day, but things are going to be busy so I doubt that any of this will ever happen. Sigh. All of the joints move and stuff and I converted the key system so that the same keys move joints on each side of the robot and you switch the active side with other keys.
Happy New Year!
Back to school now, I'm only taking 4 courses this term since I have taken two extra courses by distance already and I am thinking that Operating Systems (CS350) may take up quite a bit of my time. I am also taking Introduction to the Theory of Computation (CS360) as well as Applied Cryptography (CO487) and Calculus 3 (MATH237). Should be an amusing term.
Christmas was pretty good I think, I set a new personal record of having six Christmas functions to attend over the course of the break. Blegh. I slept a lot and that is what is really important so it was all good.
I think that is all for now, I'm not in the mood to document the details of my break. I probably won't update much all term just like last time I was at school. :(
So, I'm in Waterloo all alone this weekend (I'm not calling people who should be studying for exams), so in order to stave off loneliness I started looking at OpenGL again and this is what I created:
It's an arm and by pressing one of 16 keys the various joints can be rotated (to a certain extent) in either direction. Technically I could make another arm and put them both on a body, I guess, but I think I have done enough for today. I actually used some of the code from a tutorial, but that just gave the two pieces of the arm, none of the fingers and no bounds on the rotation.
Time for supper now, I am almost healthy again I think, but I still cough a lot. It is hard to believe that I started being sick nearly two weeks ago when I left for Ottawa. I haven't been sick for that much time ever before, it has been very unpleasant.
